LinkedIn, Snap and Reddit pixels
Why these three ad pixels are handled by blocking rather than a consent bridge, and how to set that up.
The LinkedIn Insight Tag, the Snap Pixel and the Reddit Pixel don't have a consent bridge. We looked for one, and none of these pixels gives CookieBeam something it could honestly call. A bridge that looks connected and does nothing is worse than no bridge, so these three rely on gating instead. The script stays off the page until the visitor grants marketing.
Why there's no bridge
| Pixel | What the vendor documents | Why it isn't a bridge |
|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn Insight Tag | _linkedin_partner_id, lintrk('track', …) | No consent call, and nothing puts the tag into a cookieless state. |
| Snap Pixel | snaptr('init', …), snaptr('track', …) | No consent call. Snap's Limited Data Use (data_processing_options: ['LDU']) belongs to the server-side Conversions API, not the browser pixel. |
| Reddit Pixel | rdt('init', id, { optOut, useDecimalCurrencyValues, dpm, dpcc, dprc }) | optOut and the LDU fields (dpm: 'LDU', dpcc, dprc) are init options. You set them in your own snippet, and Reddit doesn't document a way to change them after init. |
How gating works
Auto-blocking holds back any script the scanner classifies as marketing until that category is granted. It can't unload a script that is already running, so if a visitor withdraws consent, the pixel stays off from their next page view. The scanner recognises these pixels in three ways:
- Script URLs.
snap.licdn.com(LinkedIn),sc-static.net(Snap), andredditstatic.com/ads/…(Reddit). The Reddit match is limited to that path because the host also serves Reddit embeds. - Inline base code.
_linkedin_partner_id =,snaptr('init',sc-static.net/scevent.min.js,rdt('init'andredditstatic.com/ads/pixel.js. - Network connections.
linkedin.com,snapchat.com(includingtr.snapchat.com),sc-static.netandreddit.com.
The blocking engine only knows about scripts a scan has found, so:
- Add the pixel to the site.
- Run a scan from the banner's Scanner page.
- Check that the pixel appears in the inventory as
marketing, then publish.
If you load the pixel through Google Tag Manager, block it there as well. Fire the tag on a trigger that checks the CookieBeam marketing consent event, so GTM doesn't inject it before consent.
US opt-out (CCPA)
Gating also covers a US visitor who opts out. If the opt-out removes marketing, the script stays blocked.
If you run Reddit in an opt-out regime and want Limited Data Use instead of blocking, set it in your own rdt('init', …) call. Reddit documents dpm: 'LDU' together with a country (dpcc) and a region (dprc) code. That decision belongs to your snippet, and CookieBeam doesn't change it.
