Consent analytics
What each number on the Analytics page counts, which plan shows it, and why two charts can disagree.
The Analytics page shows how visitors answer your banner, where they are, and whether that is changing. Open it from Insights → Analytics. You need read access to the Analytics section.
Choose a banner and a date range at the top. Most charts use that banner and period. A few charts say when they use something else.
How visitors are counted
Read this before comparing numbers. Most headline figures follow the same rules:
- One visitor is one consent ID. The ID is created in the visitor's browser and kept in the consent cookie. A visitor who clears cookies or uses another browser counts again.
- The first decision counts. Each consent ID is counted once, using its first decision in the period. Later changes do not move the headline rates.
- Automatic defaults are excluded. A record written by the banner at page load, such as an opt-out or notice default, is not a decision. Records without a consent ID are excluded too.
- Automated traffic is excluded by default. Turn on Include automated traffic to include it. The choice lasts until you reload the page.
Because of these rules, the number of visitors who chose is lower than the number of consent records in your consent logs.
What each section means
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Visitors who chose | Consent IDs with at least one explicit decision in the period. |
| Accept All Rate, Necessary Only Rate, Custom Rate | Share of visitors who chose, by their first decision: accepted everything, accepted only necessary, or saved a custom selection. |
| Category opt-in rates | How often each category was accepted. |
| Consent Funnel | From Banner shown to Interacted, then to accepted all, necessary only or custom. |
| Regional Consent Rates | Opt-in and opt-out rates by country and region, each visitor counted once by their first decision. Only decisions with location data appear. |
| Regional health | Diagnostics for the last 30 days, independent of the date filter. |
| Purpose statuses by region and the purpose cards | Allowed and disallowed counts per consent category, grouped by region or by the banner's consent mode. |
| Privacy signals | Share of non-default consent records that carried a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. This counts records, not visitors. |
| Visitor sessions by region over time | Distinct consent IDs per day and region across every banner in your team. A repeat visitor can appear on several days. |
| Network requests by purpose | Detected network connections grouped by consent purpose, for connections first detected in the period, across the whole team. Unknown requests are not yet mapped to a purpose and may fire before consent. |
The purpose charts count the consent categories (analytics, marketing, preferences). They do not count the US opt-out purposes, such as sale or sharing. See Categories and purposes.
The funnel and impressions
Banner shown is counted only by banner scripts published after impression tracking was added. If the funnel says impressions are not tracked yet, republish the banner. Until then the funnel starts at interactions. If the funnel shows a "tracked since" date, the interaction rate covers only the period after that date.
Regional health
Regional health checks whether your regional rules match real traffic:
- Unknown geo — consent events with no location.
- Configured-country fallback — traffic from countries you have rules for that still resolved through the fallback. A warning appears when this is more than a fifth of that traffic. Check geo headers, your rules' country and region matching, and that the banner was published after the rules changed.
- Analytics grant trend — the analytics grant rate this week against last week. It needs a minimum number of consent events in each week.
If it says it is awaiting runtime data, republish the banner so it starts reporting rule resolution.
Plans
| What you see | Included from |
|---|---|
| Totals and trend of recorded interactions | Free plan |
| Detailed analytics: rates, funnel, category, regional and purpose charts | Starter plan |
| CSV export of regional analytics | Starter plan |
| Category opt-in rates by country | Professional plan |
Without detailed analytics, the page shows totals of accepted all, rejected, dismissed, and unknown or custom interactions, counting the first recorded interaction per visitor.
Why two numbers disagree
- Visitors who chose vs. consent logs. Logs list every record, including repeat decisions and automatic defaults. Analytics counts each consent ID once.
- Regional totals vs. visitors who chose. Regional charts drop decisions without location data.
- Sessions by region vs. everything else. That chart covers every banner in the team and counts a visitor once per day.
- A/B test results vs. this page. A/B results count each visitor's latest decision per arm. This page counts the first decision. See A/B testing.
Analytics describe behaviour. They do not tell you why a visitor chose, and they are not evidence that your banner meets a legal standard.
